Raja Pattani Mosque
Pattani | Thailand
The Raja Pattani Mosque, established in 1845 during the reign of Sultan Muhammad of Pattani State, stands as one of Pattani’s most venerable and cherished landmarks. Over its long history, this mosque has not only been a vital place of worship but also a central gathering spot for the community. Its enduring significance is reflected in the various extensions and renovations it has undergone over the years.
A new architectural lighting proposal for the mosque is part of the revitalization efforts for the Chabang Tiko neighborhood, and in conjunction with the Pattani Decoded event during Pakk Taii Design Week 2024. This initiative marks the beginning of a comprehensive renovation plan that will address both the exterior and interior of this historic site.
The mosque’s existing lighting has primarily served a functional purpose, with minimal decorative elements and exterior illumination had not been introduced. The new lighting design scheme aims to accentuate the mosque’s architectural heritage, providing enhanced lighting that respects its historical significance while supporting its diverse functions.
We are thrilled to collaborate with the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), SUBPER, the local architect, and community members to breathe new life into this culturally significant district, with a particular focus on the mosque. This project represents a meaningful step towards celebrating and preserving the rich history of Pattani. We are looking forward to the completion of the renovation, where the mosque would be restored to its true value.
